  KILLARNEY

Killarney, know as Cill Airne in Gaelic means the Church of the Sloes. This vibrant and friendly village is of the most famous in Ireland, made more so by the breath-taking Killarney Lakes set into its hills.
Killarney is a great destination for vistors to relax and soak up the easy-going ways of the Irish. Visitors are encouraged to explore the town, it's historic streets, family-run shops, arts and culture, history and hertiage, and more cafes and restaurants "than you can shake a stick at". Killarney is populated with enthusiastic and welcoming people, eager to make sure that visitors leave completely happy. This enthusiasm is reflected in Killarney's successive awards for Ireland's Tidy Towns and Europe's Entente Florale.
Killarney is also home to Coolwood Wildlife Park, where visitors can enjoy watching an array of animals in a natural open environment.

Traditional Irish Cottage
Vistors to Killarney will enjoy seeing traditional Irish cottages similar to the one pictured above. Once these cottages were common place in Ireland, and reflect a bygone time of memories and stories. Whole famnilies once lived in these quaint buildings, working the land and coming together around the fireplace at night to tell "tall tales". The cottages are made from ancient methods of working stone and 'thatching' together straw to make a waterproof roof.
